We are on a roll here! We have 47 registered bone marrow donors. That's almost half way to our goal of 100 donors in 100 days. If you have already registered, please email us so we can add you to our count!! If you haven't registered yet, please join our team today!!
Our 100 day drive goes until May 28th. So, please consider sharing this information with anyone you think might be touched by the need for bone marrow donors...think facebook, church, newsletters, email, working out at the gym, etc!
From Jo: I was talking with another mom at Anna's gymnastics class yesterday and she was telling me of a little girl she had known with leukemia. The little girl waited and waited for a match to be found...no such luck. She eventually passed on to a better place. As I watched my healthy daughter do cartwheels and handstands, it broke my heart to hear her story. The reality is that it could happen to any of us at any time with no warning. Please do something today that could help save a life tomorrow - register!
February 18, 2011 - May 28, 2011 - Stem Cell/Bone Marrow Donors needed ASAP! Join Team Jo and Friends Worldwide On-line Bone Marrow Donor Drive! Thousands of patients are waiting for a life-saving match. It could be you! Our goal is to register 100 potential bone marrow donors worldwide in 100 days! There are several ways to participate - thank you!

A Good Day!!
Great news!! Just today we went from 37 registered bone marrow donors to 40! Let's keep this ball rolling. Please share our blog address with your friends so we can keep our numbers growing. Donors save lives!
Update #4, help Marie and Jo makes the news!
Team Jo and Friend's goal is to register 100 Bone Marrow Donors in 100 Days. Today is day 33 of our drive. The good news is we have 37 donors registered that we know of. Awesome! The bad news is that's the same number as last week!! So, if you've been putting off registering, please don't wait.
Here's Marie Brady, one of the many patients in desperate need of a donor ASAP!
After 26 years in the Military / Reserves Forces - 16 in the Army and 10 in the Air Force, Marie retired as a Major 10 years ago...Private to Major with Warrant Officer in between.
Marie states that "In October 2010, I was diagnosed with Leukemia. I have been told that without a bone marrow transplant I may only live 2 to 3 more years. Of the 8 million people in the National Bone Marrow Registry none are currently a match for me. I have helped save many lives over the last 27 years (as a Physician Assistant). Now I need YOU to help save MY life and the lives of the 10,000 people a year who are diagnosed with leukemia and other blood related diseases in need of a transplant."
There is no special training needed, just the commitment to help. Please register."
So, you might be just the match that Marie is looking for.
Let's make this a big week!!! Click here to sign up today!

Does Your State Provide Paid Medical Leave for Bone Marrow Donors?
January, 2011, California enacts SB 1304, a Paid Leave Law for Organ and Bone Marrow Donors. SB 1304 provides private sector employees that donate life-saving bone marrow or organs paid, protected leave from their employment. This bill requires any business entity that employs 15 or more employees to provide up to 30 days of paid leave for an organ donation and up to 5 days of paid leave for a bone marrow donation. Click here to read more about this new law.
You don't live in California? Google to see if your state also provides paid leave for medical donors. To encourage people to join the registry and save lives, many states do.
